Institute for Theoretical Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (ITAMP)
The Institute for Theoretical Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics was established in 1988 to attract and encourage talented graduate students to enter this field of research, which emphasizes theoretical study of fundamental questions in atomic and molecular physics. ITAMP hosts many visitors, both long- and short-term, and conducts numerous conferences and workshops annually.

Institute for Theory and Computation (ITC)
The Institute for Theory and Computation, also hosted by the CfA, is dedicated to research in high-end astrophysical computing. One of the primary objectives is to integrate conceptual theory with computational modeling. The ITC consists of members of the Harvard Department of Astronomy, Smithsonian astrophysicists, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and associates at other institutions.

Center for X-ray Technology (CXT)
The Center for X-ray Technology, established in 2003 as a collaborative effort with other institutions, promotes the development of detectors and optics leading to space telescope applications, including X-ray interferometers. New technology for future high-energy astrophysics missions, with substantial increases in aperture, energy resolution, energy coverage, and angular resolution, is the goal of this research.
